The project “Flood protection of Sandomierz” is implemented by the State Water Holding Polish Waters in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship as part of the nationwide project “The Odra-Vistula Flood Management Project”. This comprehensive investment is designed to protect life and property of the population living in the city of Sandomierz and its area against the effects of a flood comparable to that of 2010.

As part of these project activities, the flood protection system of Sandomierz will be strengthened and the housing estates and the Koprzywianka River valley will be protected. The implemented investments will also improve protection against minor localized flooding and reduce the risk of flooding in the villages of Zajeziorze, Szewce, and Sośniczany as well as in the neighboring municipalities such as: Samborzec, Koprzywnica, Łoniów, Baranów Sandomierski, Gorzyce, Dwikozy, and Zawichost.

“Flood protection of Sandomierz” will provide the following:

  • 6 flood protection investments;
  • 27 km of flood embankments;
  • 11 km2 of areas protected against flooding;
  • 4 pumping stations in the villages of Koćmierzów, Nadbrzezie Szewce, and Zajeziorze.

The total value of the comprehensive project “Flood protection of Sandomierz” will be about PLN 189 million.
